Lean deployment often fails for a reason that has little to do with the Lean tools themselves. Organizations sometimes rush to implement 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kanban, or OEE without first establishing a shared understanding of what the process is, where it begins and ends, who depends on it, and what outputs actually matter.
